04 / A covenant with the sea

The sea fed them.
Then it asked
to be fed.

Nagisa was once a prosperous fishing settlement isolated between steep cliffs and unforgiving water.

Generations came to believe their survival was not owed to nature, but to an ancient presence beneath the tides.

What began as gratitude became doctrine.
What became doctrine eventually demanded sacrifice.

Beyond the village streets

Follow the traces they left behind.

Weathered shores

Wet timber, eroded cliffs and coastal shrines mark a settlement whose survival has always depended on the sea.

Places of devotion

Forest paths and ritual chambers preserve the signs of a faith that grew from gratitude into sacrifice.

Beneath the surface

Sea caves, flooded spaces and abandoned buildings reward observation. Nagisa’s environments tell stories of their own.

05 / The faith beneath the water

Mother of the Tides

Shiobo-gami

The cult’s oldest stories tell of a mother who walked into the sea during famine so her village might live.

The next morning the waters returned full of fish.
The villagers believed she had not died.
She had become the sea.

To her followers, Shiobo-gami represents nourishment and oblivion — the tide that gives and the tide that takes back.

The Cult of Shiobo-gami

Faith has its hierarchy.

Azure Keeper

The hereditary matriarch interprets doctrine, leads rituals and maintains the cult’s religious authority.

Tide Bearers

Senior members teach initiates, enforce ritual traditions and prepare ceremonial activities.

Tide Daughters

Raised within the cult’s belief system, they are taught that ritual drowning is a sacred return — a reunion with Shiobo-gami.

07 / You are not alone

Some defend the covenant. Others return from it.

The living

The Faithful

They are not mindless fanatics. They are disciplined believers protecting rituals they believe are necessary for the survival of their community.

The returned

The Drowned

Generations offered to the sea do not always remain beneath it.

Victims of ritual sacrifice have returned from the sea corrupted.
